Michelle Milo is a

drummer, songwriter and producer based out of Denver, Co, most known for her work with psychedelic indie band Banshee Tree. Milo’s solo productions are soaked in drum and bass, trip hop, and avant garde, blending breakbeat drums with airy vocals and interesting harmony. She is active on the Denver music scene, and tours nationally with Banshee Tree.

Milo studied the music of Frank Zappa at SUNY Oneonta. Shortly after, she moved to Colorado and began integrating into the scene, starting her first band out west, Punch Drunk Munky Funk. This band had local success, supporting acts like Victor Wooten, Jeff Austin, and some of the scene’s heavy hitters. They disbanded in 2017 and Milo joined Banshee Tree. They cut their teeth with a residency at the Hotel Boulderado and eventually started touring nationally.

Milo has written, arranged and performed music for Denver’s premier modern dance company, Wonderbound. She also performs with female super group the Winter Wonder Women, and was the touring drummer for Lindsay Lou’s Queen of Time band. She has performed on stage with Greensky Bluegrass, Billy Failing, Ivan Neville, Jennifer Hartswick, Tim Carbone, Victor Wooten and many more notable artists.

Milo strives to encourage the community to lift each other up. The job of the musician, first and foremost, is to heal and celebrate life. She works with young musicians to help them get prepared for a career in music by helping them develop an understanding of the business while digging deeper into their own sound.
